ANNUAL FESTIVAL «MOSCOW FLOWER SHOW»
IN CENTRAL (GORKY) PARK OF CULTURE AND RECREATION
July 6 – 13, 2014
III Moscow International Festival of Gardens and Flowers will be held from 6 to 13 of July 2014 in the Central (Gorky) Park of Culture and Recreation.
Traditionally The Festival will open with the "Flower of Hope" charity marathon. During the marathon the concert of the famous pianist, National Artist of Russia Yuri Rozum and Fellows of the "International Yuri Rozum Charity Foundation" will take place.
The main event of the Festival is the International Competition of Landscape Design and Gardening Art. Within a few days Gorky Park Visitors will be able to appreciate the projects presented. Winners will be determined in the following nominations: "Heritage Gardens", "Gardens of Russia", "Garden in the city", "Kindergarten", "Vertical City", "Showgarden", "Land-art", "Art in the Garden".
The jury consists of accredited judge of the Royal Horticultural Society and popular BBC host James Alexander-Sinclair, president of the European Association of Landscape Industry ELCA Emmanuel Mony, vice president of the Parks and Gardens Foundation of France Princess Marisol de la Tour d'Auvergne, and others.
President of the «Moscow Flower Show» Karina Lazarev notes - "2014 is a landmark for The Festival, a certain watershed - we are three years old. Also this year, announced by the President as a year of the Russian Culture, we want to draw attention to the fact that the gardens and parks are the spirit of the age and are passed down from generation to generation, as a cultural and spiritual heritage of the country. And therefore, it is no coincidence that experts from Russia, France, Italy and the UK have submitted the largest number of projects for the nomination "Heritage Gardens".
We are pleased to introduce a new socio-cultural project - "Gardens of Russia."
During the Festival traditional "Rose Day" a new "Olympic" kind of the flower will be presented in honor of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi by the famous French House "Meia". Yelena Isinbayeva, a celebrated Russian athlete, Olympic Champion and winner of 28 world records will appear as the "Godmother" of the new rose.
The Park International Forum "Green Strategy" will be held for the first time. Objective: exchange of views between the landscape industry professionals, fostering dialogue between the professional community and representatives of the city administration and the public.
Seven presidents of the Associations of the European landscape industry will hold meetings as part of the Forum. The meetings will discuss the prospects of the industry.
Festival Opening Ceremony - July 7, 2014 at 12:00 pm.
After the opening of the Festival, the expedition participants will depart to the Tikhonov Desert. Professional arborists from Russia and Europe will examine and discuss the treatment of the oak of St. Tikhon , a particularly esteemed place for the entire Orthodox world.
